lavendera somniferum - exotic lavender chamomile tea - delicious super sleepy time recipe - organic, fair trade, artisan made loose herbal tea

A sleepy-time herbal tea from another dimension some would say. A hypnotically delicious cup of soothing tea-time wonder is what I like to call it right before it lulls me towards slumber every night.

*´¨)
¸.·´¸.·*´¨) ¸.·*¨)
(¸.·´ (¸.·`Lavendera Somniferum is like nothing you’ve ever tasted & I am proud to present it as the second of my “Genuine Pixxxie Pressed Teas & Tinctures” collection. This practically magical tea has been a guarded recipe in my book of tasty shadows for quite some time and after much deliberation I’ve finally decided to share it with the world.

Comprised of wholesome, fair trade, organic ingredients it is an exotic melding of richly cultivated flavors.

♥The headiest components here are luscious, high grade, organic Lavender, chopped California Poppy and finely ground Chamomile Powder of identical caliber.

♥Next on our alchemical component scroll is a mixed allotment of organic Hibiscus, Lemon Balm, Hops Flowers, Skullcap and Valerian Root.

♥Rounding off all this goodness is the semi-precious wonderment that is Roasted Brown Rice. Like a velvet ribbon accent on a present that is already sinfully fantastic, it adds a certain richness that is distinct yet smooth. It’s an exotic flavor, almost bordering on the roasted tastiness one finds with fresh Sesame Crackers.

All of these components meld together to create a cup of the most stunning tea you’ve ever tasted. To say this is the stuff of which dreams are made of would be putting it lightly…

Sure to lull you right to sleep, I suggest drinking it right before bed time. Be forewarned that you shouldn’t drive a vehicle, horse-drawn or otherwise, after sipping this concoction.

…And also consider avoiding moonlit walks after gulping this down, for it can make you easy prey for all manner of night’s creatures.

(¸.·´ (¸.·`How Much You Receive:

Sold in one corked glass vial, you receive 1.5 oz of Geniune Pixxxie Pressed Tea. This makes about 3-4 cups of tea depending on the size of your tea cups.

I commonly use one of these old world vials in my personal tea pot and pull at least 6 cups from it since this is one of the rare loose teas that you can steep in hot water 2 times over and still get a delicious cup of tea that’s not bitter from “over steeping”.

♥Tea is sent in bottle with constituents layered in the lovely strata you see pictured. If you’d like the tea to come to you mixed please leave me a note in your Paypal buying notes or Etsy buying notes with the simple statement “Please Mix Tea Components”.

♥Product will come to you in gift-style wrappings, packaged securely with love and care.

♥You will also find 2 re-usable drawstring muslin tea bags of cotton nestled alongside your corked apothecary jar of tea. Despite sending you the little bags I really suggest using a tea pot with an internal basket or a French Press if you have one.

♥Alternative Recipe for Grown Ups: Instead of filling your teapot solely with hot water, fill half of it with hot water and fill the other half with Sangria + 3 heaping teaspoons of brown sugar or raw sugar. Steep tea for whatever duration of time suits your fancy and drink up. This is ultra soothing and commonly brings on the “Sleep of Ages” or something pretty damn similar. Because it is a heady alchemical decoction, it is not suitable for children (no matter how ill mannered or hyperactive you think them to be…No matter what Mary Poppins or her cohorts think). And while we’re on the topic, you probably shouldn’t listen to any nanny of the Mary Poppin’s School of Child Rearing w/ Witchcraft anyway. They’ll have your wee ones grow up to be very docile lifetime alcoholics for magical wine-brews! Believe it. Despite depictions of “Poppins Types” descending from rain clouds or some such, know now that they’re practically Vampires and can only come into your home if you invite them! But that’s another topic….

(¸.·´ (¸.·`Notables:

-♥-Product does not contain caffeine. It’s for helping you unwind and relax your frazzled nerves so you can actually go to sleep.

-♥-All ingredients here are certified organic and fair trade.

-♥-Roasted Brown Rice is “puffed” and some grains puff out and expand like wild, giving them the look of small popcorn kernels.

-♥-Ingredients are super fresh, so this will probably be one of the freshest cups of tea you will ever taste. Very different from tea purchased at the grocery store that may have been sitting on the shelf for a long time. Drink lightly to gauge you tolerance since this strong stuff.

-♥-Tea lasts longer if you store it in a cool dry place that is not exposed to direct sunlight. This tea has a rather long shelf life but it tastes best if you drink it within 60 days of receiving it.

-♥-You can also jazz this tea up a bit more by adding whipped cream or milk. Or serve it over ice for the days when you’d rather have your tea cold.

-♥-Steeping Time: 3-4 Minutes in boiling water. Sugar to taste. Tea brews up to a pale golden color and Chamomile Powder is so finely ground that it will float about your cup.

-♥-Makes 3-6 cups depending on how strong you brew your tea.

Pixxxie's Coconut Almond Cookies of Spastic Delight...Om nom nom nom

This is a fun twist on an older recipe and results in a wildly tasty cookie. The cookie’s name—“Pixxxie’s Coconut Almond Cookies of Spastic Delight”—-is as such because these lovely little cookies are wildly addictive, showing off a wondrous texture, crumb and buttery flavor. Perfectly crisp on the outside, they are also perfectly chewy on the inside and pair well with a cup o’ java.

Here’s the Recipe:

Ingredients
  • 2 cups of all purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt (I use sea salt)
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of allspice
  • 3/4 cup butter (I prefer to use Country Crock and the feel the salt in it adds a savoriness to the cookie that’s just right. You can use unsalted butter if you prefer.
  • 2/3 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2/3 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons of pure vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup of almonds chopped or slivered
  • 3/4 cup of unsweetened finely cut/shredded coconut flakes
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (177 degrees C).
  2. Place one of your oven racks in the top third of the oven, and one oven rack in the bottom third. Use parchment paper to line your cookie sheets & save yourself the joy of spraying.
  3. Once pre-heated, place coconut flakes and almonds in a shallow pan that’s oven safe. Sprinkle w/ cinnamon & allspice. Toast until golden. Keep an eye on this since coconut can toast really fast. Once toasted, allow to cool, then place in zip lock bag & pound lightly w/ mallet or similar item. Don’t pulverize too much since you want some almond slivers intact. Set aside.
  4. In a fairly big bowl, mix flour, baking soda & salt w/ whisk or fork.
  5. In a separate bowl: Beat the butter & sugars until light/fluffy. Next, you’ll add the egg & egg yolk, beating until all is well combined. Last but not least you’ll mix in your vanilla extract. Your goal is to cream these ingredients.
  6. Slowly add your flour mixture to the creamed mixture & beat mixture to the point of incorporation. If your dough appears too soft, just put the dough in the fridge until it firms up enough to form a firm ball.
  7. Now you mix in coconut & almond mix. Since my family likes variety, I don’t dump all of this in the dough at once. I add in stages so cookies become more chunky w/almond and coconut as I work w/ the dough.
  8. Form dough into balls w/ a teaspoon & place 2” apart on baking sheet. Bake delightful cookies for about 15 - 17 minutes & consider rotating sheets halfway. Cookies are done when light golden brown in color. They may seem a bit soft initially but they’ll firm up as they cool. Remove from oven & let cookies cool off a few moments on your baking sheet before moving them to a wire rack to cool.
  9. Yields 15-25 cookies depending on size.

I’ve also posted this recipe on AllRecipes.com.

The Haruko Shoulder Bag Pounces Etsy

Finally put the finishing touches on the Haruko Shoulder Bag and Clasp Purse Combo and finished it early last week!

A lot of work but well worth it! It was listed in ye old Etsy shop as of today. Rest assured, not all my bags will be extra huge like this one. Small ones are on the drawing board and will see the light of day soon!

Details on this bag:

Also known as “Haruko’s Humongous Bag of Holding”, this huge shoulder bag comes complete with 4 outer pockets on (2 on each side panel) and 4 large internal pockets seated within its blue velvet lined interior.

As an extra bonus I’m including a matching mini snap/clasp coin/clutch purse with this giant loot bag, so you’ll have a nice snug place to plant your loose change, credit cards or cell phone. Said mini clasp purse has a handy divide within it, giving you two spots for whatever you want to stash within it.

The main fabric featured here is a vibrant, multi-colored Asian dragon/floral print (cotton). A large tattoo of a dragon emblazoned on my back has given me a passion for dragon print fabrics lately and I just couldn’t resist this fabric. I had initially thought to make a skirt or apron from it, but I’m glad I decided on a big bag. For extra stability, the bag’s sides and bottom are made with durable cotton duck fabric of vibrant green hue. Cotton duck feels quite a bit like tough canvas and its rigidity adds longevity to the bag so you’ll enjoy it for many years (such fabric is often used as the underlying fabric for corsets). For extra measure, all internal seams are triple and double stitched.

The shear massive size of this bag makes it ever so perfect for just about everything. Take it to your Yoga or Pilates class where it’s sure to stir up conversation. Stuff your favorite yarn and needles into it for those marathon Stitch-n-Bitch knitting circle meetups or use it as a stylish baby bag that might make other mothers want to mug you for it!! Something about the velvet lining and large internal pockets makes moms go gaga for this bag so look out.

No matter what you’re up to, the Haruko bag is up to the task and the velvet underlining on the wide arm bands ensures comfort as you carry the bag throughout the day.

Size info for Haruko Shoulder Bag (in inches):
26.5” from bottom of bag to top of arm bands
15” from bottom of bag to top of the bag’s rim
17.5” wide from left to right side
10-12” of depth from front to back depending on how much you stuff into the bag’s body

Size info for clasp purse accessory (in inches):
6” from bottom to top
7” wide at largest area

Care instructions:
Hand Wash or Dry Clean Only!

Note: Though the bag is sturdy and large you should try to avoid overfilling with really heavy items since I’d hate for you to hurt your back or shoulders=) !!

Bag will come to you in gift-style wrappings, packed with love and care!

New Products Tumbling Out of Pixxxie Pie & Posie

Things have been super busy since I moved in mid May and new products are making their way to Pixxxie Pie & Posie’s Etsy storefront at a pretty steady clip. The goal is to get a listing up for every aroma blend offered in the 1/6 oz and 1/2 oz bottle categories. I’ve almost completed the task, so it’s full steam ahead for the next few days.

I’ve also started rolling out some of my stationary creations and affordable gift collections of various combinations of Pixxxie Pie & Posie creations. Much is on the horizon and updates will be a bit more regular as more projects are completed!!
